Human Rent

A really beautiful perspective I heard about during a podcast this week is that we need to treat our actions in the world as if we are paying our "human rent" to the universe. I loved this concept!!

She was speaking about philanthropy as a way of paying our human rent and I extended the idea to our behavior in general. What a wonderful way to think about our actions in the world!

With every positive action you take, with every kind word, with every unselfish deed, with every moment you donated your precious time to a stranger or friend in need, with every hug shared or hand held your human bank account fills up. And every time you purposely trigger someone, gossip, speak unkind words, witness terrible behavior and remain silent, and do all the things you know go against your positive essence- your payment to the universe drops. Love and kindness fills up your balance and hatred and negativity depletes it.

What would your human rent be every day?

How can you "pay" more attention, gratitude and respect to the universe and the people in your community?

If you wanted to literally show your gratitude to mother earth, how would you do that? With the terrible, horrific fires of Australia, along with every other drastic environmental issue on our planet, we have a giant debt we owe to the this planet. Where to begin feels daunting. That being said there are charities you can show your monetary gratitude to in Australia to save the wildlife and lend a virtual hand to the firefighters risking their lives every day.

I have so much to say on this subject but my work beckons me. I hope that this first rant of January evokes a more sensitive & kind approach to the world outside your day. I hope you find that same compassion with your inner universe. Be good citizens of this planet, pay your human rent.

Be love, share love,
